Meet the Beyond Cake Family!

Leslie is the owner, operator, baker, and decorator of Beyond Cake. She is fun, energetic, a new mom to a beautiful baby girl, she loves spending time with her dog Addie and most importantly she is dedicated to the bakery! She loves to perfect exotic custom cakes, when customers come in, she brings their cakes to life through incredible artwork and gravity defying feats of engineering.

Leslie also has a deep passion for the fine, detailed artwork involved in crafting unique, elegant wedding cakes and fun personalized groom's cakes.

Favorite frosting: German Chocolate

Favorite baked good of all: Brownie with Cream Cheese

Jen is a cake artist who enjoys sculpting 3-D artwork with fondant as well as drawing with food coloring and icing. She particularly enjoys making animals! In her spare time, Jen likes to paint landscapes. She enjoys playing Call of Duty and Zombies on the X-Box and her favorite t.v. shows are The Walking Dead and Arrow. She also enjoys anything with super heroes.

Larissa is Leslie's Executive Assistant. She is usually the one who will answer the phone when you call us! Larissa deals with the paperwork, orders and emails as well as Facebook and now, this blog. In addition to the office work, she enjoys helping with the cookies and cupcakes. In her spare time, Larissa spends time with her dog and enjoys reading a good book, and watching her favorite tv shows like The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and Adventure Time. She is also a connoisseur of tea!

Favorite baked good of all: Macadamia Nut Cookies

Mara is the newest member of the family! She is a baker, decorator and pastry chef who loves to bake and make French Pastries like eclairs in her spare time. She also enjoys playing music and singing. Mara likes to watch Never Been Kissed, True Blood and Sailor Moon when she has time.

Jennie is a cake artist who loves to work on small intricate details when sculpting tiny 3-D fondant pieces. She loves making Petit Fours and Cake Drops and Pops! She has one child and loves to watch Despicable Me with her son. She will also take on any home improvement project that requires tools.

Interns

Occasionally, at Beyond Cake we are lucky enough to get an intern! We love to help culinary students practice their baking, dessert making and cake decorating skills and watch them improve as they learn the tricks of the trade. It is very rewarding to help our interns perfect their techniques as they prepare for their new careers!

Wedding Shows, Open Houses, Contests and Fun!

We attend Wedding Shows regularly in the San Antonio area. If you are planning to attend one of the Extravaganzas, look for us. We are usually there (although some times we just can't make it) and we would love to meet you in person! We bring a variety of samples and some of our albums as well as a few dummy cakes. We can schedule a full consultation when when we meet you, or you can always book one over the phone.

We love our jobs and each other. Beyond Cake isn't just a place for us to work and cakes aren't just a product. Each of us have varying talents and interests and we work as a team making sure that whomever has the right talent for a particular aspect of the cake does that part. We think of each cake as a centerpiece for an event which will make lifelong memories. It is not just a cake, cookie or cake drop, it is a smile and the special feeling of a perfect moment in time and hopefully a memory that will last forever. Because we work so well together it is easier for us to put those extra special touches on every order that we make.

Sometimes we get a little bit silly! We love to play pranks on each other and take pictures in funny poses. Sometimes just taking a few minutes to just let off some steam during a hectic week helps us focus better.
